Years ago my brother had a new soild black with upper chrome 77 hi-boy with 39 inch tires and a 429. then he had a brown with beige middle and top 79 dad bought it from him and later sold it for a 78 ranger lariet with ac tilt and cruise that was the light yellow (cream) with baby blue middle and top and darkblue dash . Back in 91 I painted it soild charcoal gray to match the 16' stock trailer we have. We rebuilt the 400 last spring buit the body is shot so my brother that now lives in Wyoming found a 78 camper special solid dark blue with a great body and hauled it home to West Virginia at X-mas. I want to swap the good body over to dads 78 and I'm planing to paint it soild baby blue and reinstall all of the racetrack chrome. I love the original baby blue but I not crazy about the original cream color. Sorry for the long story but I'm getting excited about this project.
White on Blue, sandwich I suspect, bottom 6" is white over wheel wells to bumper. Blue to top of body (1979) line then white to the cab top, and hood. Goig to re paint soon I am going to do it the same.
1979 F100 XLT, Oval Track Molding, Black on the top of the cab, dark grey for the rest of the body and bed except fo the center of the molding, that is black also, with interior black.
My 79 has a 76 grille because it was wrecked and I like that grille better. Right now it is "baby" blue all over but it needs a paint job. I'd love to go red but that would mean changing the interior and the underside of the hood, etc.
I'm debating whether to go back with the baby blue, give it a two tone with a darker blue on the bottom (or vice versa), or just go all over with the a darker blue which would match the dash color.
I'm leaning toward the two tone, light blue over dark blue. Anyone have any input on this?
My 77 is yellow bottom, purple top (in gallery), my wife's old Bronco was marron on top and bottom with tan in the middle (in gallery), my old dually was red top and bottom with dark grey in the middle (in gallery), my current F-150 is green with a silver roof. A friend of mine wrecked a 79 with red on top and bottom with white in the middle.
Mine has Brown top and bottom, with tan or buckskin in the middle and cab, brown and tan interior as well. Looks exactly like garypettengill's truck. It was purchased in Arizona and spent the las 30 years in Alaska with one owner before I got it.
1974 SCS with metallic brown on the bottom and calf Sh## yellow on the top. Original paint in pretty good shape - no rust. Interior is same brown cloth with white headliner. Ed
