Overdrive Not turning OFF (not blinking - shifting fine)

I tried searching for this topic - but all that kept coming up was Overdrive BLINKING light threads.

I just got this 1997 Eddie Bauer back in December 2005 with 73,000 miles.

Runs great - did have to clean the MAF sensors - but no issues with it until now.

When I got it the OD On/Off button on the end of the shift lever worked fine. It would turn off the OD and the RPMS would raise up.

Recently I tried turning the OD off. The light should come on, and the RPMS should go up; I get neither.

Is there something simple to check on this?

The truck shifts fine, runs fine, no shudder, no blinking OD OFF light.

Ok I found one thread...

I just remembered I will need to check my connections under the steering column shroud since I just added a remote starter to the Exp and had to put the transponder key sensor around the ignition barrel - so I had the colum cover off - might have knocked something loose - I'll check that.

On rare occassions, the switch (behind the button) fails.

You put in the remote starter yourself? Cool! What kind? How much trouble was it?

My father's 99 Expy does the same thing. Did you ever find out what was the cause?
