Having a small problem

I recently bought a 68 ford ranger, it has a 390, and it runs pretty strong, but when im accelerating from a stoped position, it seems to want to hesitate, i wasnt sure if it was the cold weather, because it definatly does alot better after the engine has been running a bit longer, any advice would be greatly apriciated, im wanting to try and restore the truck, and want to start with the motor, this will be my first attempt at anything like this, thanks

First check for vacuum leaks and make the lines are routed right, next I would look at the choke and carburetor. Then the ignition system. Since it runs better when warm I would suspect a vacuum leak or inoperative choke.
