Lately I've noticed a clunk sound when taking off from 1st gear. Today I went into Advance Auto parts and they had one of those car care videos playing and it was talking about bad motor mount problems. It fit the description, also the shifter moves more then it use to when shifting. So, could it be a motor mount? How much do shops charge to change them?
puts more stress on the rest of the driveline. the motor has to have a little flex. to see if the mounts are bad, put it in gear hold the brake on and give it a little gas. that will put all the stress on the motor sincu the truck cant move foward withe brakes on and tell you if the motor mountd are seperating. a little movement is ok but have someone look at the mounts as you do this to see if there is any exessive movement and if the mounts are seperating.
