Has anyone else noticed that they get noticeably different MPG depending on what brand of fuel they use? I usually stop at the Citgo next to work, and get a consistent 14.5 MPG. The other day I forgot to stop and ended up at the Hess station up the road a few miles, and this tank worked out to just about 12 MPG. I hadn't thought about it in a while, but I seem to recall noticing this last summer when I was filling up all over the place. Anyone had similar experiences? And if so, what brand gave you the best mileage?
I don't know that I have ever noticed a difference between stations in my area. I do notice a dfference between summer and winter diesel. Also, if I use diesel Kleen in the winter my mileage is a little better.
I've noticed a difference from the same place. The truck that delivers may be the same but where did he pick up the fuel at, how did it get to the terminal?
Yup, My last fill up was at Rote Oil(where my work gets there diesel) 2morrow ill have to fill up with only 485 miles/a tank my previous tank got me 58x and that diesel was from Shell. Plus....for some reason its a $.20 difference at shell which makes it even better! Im going to start adding some boost to my fuel to see if i can't get a few more miles out of her. No Meijers where i live, only BP, Shell, Citgo(will not buy there due to there direct link to the middle east, i want to SUPPORT our troops).
Don't know about different stations but summer to winter is different. I usually fill up at my local flying J, when traveling I usually shoot for a Chevron.
We have Woodmans here and with my 99 E300 Turbodiesel, every time I fill up there, I lose power and mpg. Let the diesel run down till really empty, fill up somewhere else and it is back to normal power and mpg. Usually when I fill up, I am running very low on fuel, almost empty. The power drop is noticable too, BTW.
