hey guys i just purchased a 3 inch body lift and am going to install it soon. before i do so i was wondering if i needed to get new shocks because i know that on a suspension lift you have to have new shocks. so yeah just wondering if when applying a 3 inch body lift if you need to get new shocks or anything else. Thanks.
the body lift only lifts the body and the shocks and mounted to the frame (at least on trucks) so you dont need new shocks. you may need longer radiator hoses since it is mounted to the body. the body lift doesent allow for longer suspension travel (unless the tires hit the body) and if you are going to do some off roading with this truck i would advise against the body lift and save for a suspension lift.
i've got a 3" body-lift on my '00 off-road edition. it came stock with rancho shocks so my off-roading capabilities are quite capable. basically body-lifts are only for increased room for larger tires and appearence. you will not need new shocks. you won't need longer hoses either because the kits usually come with hardware to also lift the radiator, extend the steering shaft, some stuff for your tranny and bumper brackets, if you get a good kit. personally i would go with a suspension lift next time, but it fit my budget at the time!
