With the expected arrival of our 3rd child, my wife is wanting to get an SUV with 3 rows of seats. I've researched many Fords in the area and have narrowed it down to two vehicles. Anyone that has experience with either please let me know your thoughts and any problems you've had.
1: 2002 Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4L 4X4 47K
2: 2003 Explorer Limited 4.6L 4X4 39K
I'll be trading in my 2002 F-150 Lariat FX4 49K for this vehicle. I'd prefer to get the Expedition, but I thought I'd check with what the people here think.
The good ol' parents own an '02 Expo Eddie Bauer and it is a really nice truck. If you are used to the power and usefulness of a f-150 you have to get the expo. It will pull a ton and it's very safe. I'd take the 3 rows of seeting and extra space of the expo anyday over a 1yr newer explorer.
Yeah, being that I love my F-150 and hate to trade it in, I might stick with the Expy. The Expy is only $500 more than the Explorer. The big difference being that the Explorer has 8K less miles and the DVD entertainment system for the kids. Otherwise they are equiped basically the same, except for the Expy being White/Tan and the Explorer being Green/Grey.
I had a 99 Explorer that had too many issues wrong with it. I know the 03 Explorer is a completely differnent SUV than my 99, but I'm still hesitant to purchase another Explorer.
Get the expy. It has a lot more room, has the larger engine and will tow more. You could also get an aftermarket DVD system with multiple screens to eliminate fighting.
