2000 Explorer Running Bad! HELP!!!

My wifes explorer has been running bad for a couple months now, and recently the "check engine" light has come on.

There are actually several things wrong so I'll list them:

1. Check engine light came on so I took it to auto zone and they put it on the the computer and it said that the number 6 spark was missing. I checked the wires and disconnected the battery for about 15 minutes. When I hooked the battery back up the check engine light went out and it seemed to run alittle better. After 207 miles the check engine light came back on.

2. The tempature gauge will not move up when the engine heats up. But if I run the car for awhile and turn it off and on again the gauge will move up for a couple seconds then back down to no reading.

3. the heater takes forever to heat. My wife lets the engine run for a few minutes then heads to work, its about a 10 minute ride to work and there isn't a hint of warm air that comes out!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Doug

Get the code ran again and post them here. Usually for a missing plug the check engine light will blink.

I replaced the thermastat and anti-freeze, now the heater works great. I unhooked the battery again and now the check engine light is out, we'll see how long that lasts!

Have you considered replacing the plugs and wires?
