Change seat back?

My seat back is broken and I picked up another seat at the junkyard. My plan was to use the bottom of my original seat and the back of the junkyard seat. But I'm not sure if I can do that. The left side of the seat has the spring built in that tilts the back forward. Is it possible to change the seatbacks without having that spring uncoil? Doner seat is from an 89 and my seat is an 87. From the outside, they are identical.

Thanks,

Jason

My seat tilt mechanism went bad on me and I got a new one off of an 88 F150 for my 89 Bronco and it worked fine. The spring doesn't uncoil or anything, you just have to angle the seat to where the two arms on the mechanism are. It wasn't too hard at all.

How does the seat back come off the bottom on the spring side? Does the spring stay with the bottom or back?
