I just stuck my boost gauge in and I dont know if the performance guy sold me the wrong one, or I have a problem. I have a 0-60 gauge, and at tops, I hit the 20 mark, if I leave my tuner at the 120hp setting. normal will only peak around 10 (under heavy throttle). While I can hear the pretty turbo whine under acceleration, the gauge will sit on zero and will only move under heavy acceleration. Is this normal ? Seems to me, when I test drove a truck that had a boost gauge, it was moving all the time, and the truck was stock, no mods, the owner just had a boost gauge in it. I could be wrong....
Sounds a little low to me. Where are you reading your boost from?
I have the autometer 60# gauge, at highway speeds it reads about 3 psi at 65mph, 8 psi at 80mph, and can go over 30 psi loaded and accererating hard, but it is not completely stock, either.
I tapped into the line running across the top of the motor, from the base of the turbo mounting to the sensor mounting on the passenger side, near the hood hinge. I made a T fitting out of brass fittings and put my boost line in there. I think I may have mushed my boost line in the compression fitting.
have you checked your boost tube connections from the turbo to the intake plenums? i know my intake boots were very loose and i could only get to 10-12 psi to register. the rest was escaping past the boots. remove the (6) boots and clean them very well, spray them inside and out with hairspray and let them dry. the hairspray makes them "sticky" so they won't blow off as easy. then tighten down the clamps and see what she'll produce.
