95 351w in F250. Recently rebuilt engine, replaced all sensors, plugs and wires. Replaced all 8 injectors. Problem just started one day. When starting, I must hold down accelerator pedal on the floor to start engine. Then it will fire over a few times and die. Kind of has a mind of its own. When it does start it is really really rough idle for a while til it smooths out. Replaced IAC motor. Checked voltage to IAC and found appx 10 volts, high according to Chiltons manual. What could cause this. Also idle is really high except when I unplug IAC then it is normal. Any help is appreciated, thanks. BTW I looked through all 28 pages of my "starting" search results of this forum so I did look first before posting.
Fuel pressure good. Replacing vacuum lines today. Will check computer codes today also. Any ideas how I could get a rich fuel condition? Or what kind of "fuel problem"? I replaced the pressure regulator already and one of the fuel pumps. Also the fuel filter. All this trying to remedy the problem with no change in condition. I also get afterfiring in the exhaust while idling, a really loud POP? But not all the time. Thanks for the info.
quick note: When I connect the EGR the engine runs like crap. When I put it in gear whith egr connected it dies almost immediately. Getting about 4in Hg of vacuum on egr line, book says should be about 1in Hg at idle. Any ideas?
OK. Fixed it. Coolant temperature sending unit. Don't buy the cheap knockoff from Oreillys Auto Parts, get the good ford parts. Also sticking thermostat. And replaced the TPS with ford part and adjusted to EXCATLY 1.00v at closed throttle. Runs good now but with a slight miss or shudder type idle. Starts about 2 cranks or so, much better. Thanks for the help.
