Okay guys, i took my 2005 FX4 to the dealership because every homemade recorded cd over about 12 songs long, would cut out and skip like crazy. the dealership replaced the factory unit with a new radio and guess what...it STILL cuts out and skips the same cd's (and yes, this cd works in other cd players i own, with no skip).
yesterday, i borrowed a homemade cd from a friend that was "MP3 recorded." well this cd was 20 songs long, and guess what...NO skipping, cutting out, or ANY problems.
my question is; what the hell could be the difference between the two? i mean, they're both recorded at home, and one skips, but the other doesn't!! how about i re-copy the cd at a slower record speed...or convert it to mp3?

come on audio guys, help me out.
Ford factory decks can play .mp3's? I didn't know that...there must be some miscommunication here, because you can put about 250 .mp3's on one CD.
Are the two CD's different colors on the bottom? Some CD players have trouble reading the dark blue discs.
I don't know about Ford, but I do know another manufacturer that has factory mp3 decks in 05.
I would start by burning the disc at a slower speed, say, half of the original. Maybe try a different, high quality disc; Sony, TDK... Some drives have a problem reading the outer edge of a disc, an mp3 disc with only 20 songs wonlt even be close to the outer edge of the disc
