Nothing came up in a search, What is special about this oil? What is different from the startup vs the syntec blend? According to CAstrol the startup has synthetic boosters.
Just a gimic or good stuff most people don't know about?
Supposedly some ester (Group V) base oil in the mix to cling to metal and help start ups. Also thicker like some high mileage oils. I have 19 quarts of it in 10w40 that I got on closeout at Meijer last Nov for $1.40 a quart (Castrol says it is not discontinued though).
There is a Startup product data sheet at the Castrol website. Anyway, the 10w40 is a a lot thicker, but the 30 weights are about typical in 100C viscosity. It may be that many places are dropping it because of poor sales. That would ultimately spell its doom. Just a matter of time I guess.
If you do find it, you can get a $7 mail in rebate (also rebates on other Castrol oils).

Thanks Tall P. I have lurked on that site extensivly. Only a couple and they are on a Toyota, I could not see any thing conclusive.
I just hope to be able to get rid of the tick that was not there before the change to Trop artic 5w30 blend. The dealer I bought the truck from changed the oil with "Northland Lubricants 5w30" From what I can find on the web is that is a blender in IA. I have never heard of them before.
