I've been contemplating which 4X4 to restore for awhile and I've been convinced on the 77-79 Fords. I had a 75 F250 in high school so it's going to be like returning to an old friend. I've been trying to determine if Ford made a 4 door (crew cab?) and an extended cab (super cab?) in the 4wd models. If that's the case, I would like to find a 78-79 Crew cab but would go with a super cab. However, after some initial browsing through the classifieds I've seen several standard cab 4X4 F-series but no crew/super cabs. If the 4 door does indeed exist, is it hard to find? I'm in Washington State (transplanted from New Mexico) so if anyone over in this neck of the woods stumbles across one of these trucks could you give me a holler? Looking for something that can get me back and forth from work but doesn't have to be pretty, I'm gonna give her the TLC she needs. Thanks, all. Hope to have a big, bad, F250 in my driveway by the end of the summer.
James, what you are looking for does exist. Ford made both the Crew-Cab and the Super-Cab in 4x4 trim. They just didn't make very many of them so you'll just have to be patient and keep your eyes open for them. Good luck.

In case anyone didn't know and/or was interested...
F-series 4X4's came in crew cabs 73-79 (before and after as well, but 73-79 was all i was interested in) and supercabs showed up in '78. Also, I've heard alot of talk that the '77-79's are the trucks to look for but according to a couple books I browsed, the '76 is the same truck as the 77-79's. Can any one clear up this dilemma?
