I'd be interested in a good shop as well. I got a set of heads redone by a local guy here in Ajax and they seem fine(haven't used them yet) but block and crank are little more critical. I stopped my rebuild when I found a rusted out truck with a low mileage engine in it for a lot less than I could get all the machine work done.
If your just looking for a stock 302/5.0 low mileage ones don't take that long to find. Of course if you want something special, a good shop is the only way to go.
Good luck.

I've heard that there's a machine shop in Ajax, east of Westney & south of Station Rd. area, that knows there way around Fords. So the story goes.
If you want to look in the Pickering phone book for a place called "Auto Boyz" (I think they might have moved) and you actually get in touch with Nino, ask him how his 460 powered Spitfire is coming along. He was running a 460++ in his Comet and that motor was about $10K back about 8-10 years ago. In other words, find Nino & ask who he's using for a machine shop these days.
