The axle is known as an 8.8 due to the ring gear diameter being 8.8 inches. The actual gear ratio will vary depending on the details of the truck. What motor/transmission? 4x4 or 2x4? Did it come from the flatlands or a mountain area? It could have anything from 3.08 to 4.11 depending on the build details. Easiest way to tell is read the code on the diff. tag, there shoud be a thin metal tag attached to one or two of the diff cover bolts. It will have two lines of numbers/letters on it. The bottom left code should be the gear ratio, my guess is the it will have 3.55 or 3.08 gears, they seem to be the most prevalent in the f150's.
