speedo problems
Ok guys here it is got a speedo that only works on acceleration,,,, let off and it drops to zero..... replaced both speed sensors, one on tranny and one on diff. Same problem.... Noticed the odometer doesn't work when the speedo not working so figured it wasnt the cluster..... Still think it is in the speed sensor,,, question is how does this thing work in the diff,,,, is there a drive gear that it reads or what???? by the way it is a 98 F150 4x4 auto 4.6 liter... thanks for any help we can get

It's a 98? Is this a digital odometer? If it is digital and it's turning of, it might be a bad solder on the cluster's curcuit board. There's a good post around here with instructions and pics on how to check and fix it. Do a search for "gauge cluster" and you should find it.

No its not a digital speedo,,,have another post on here about it too,,,,think maybe I have determined it is in the tranny,,,,not sure though, didn't know if there was a way to check the speed sensor,,,, thought maybe the new one was bad but figured 2 of them doing the same thing chances are probably slim there is something wrong with the sensor
