I have a 2001 F150 SuperCrew 2-wheel drive but really want a 4X4. The problem is that I don't want to buy another truck because I have put some money in mine. Where should I start to look for conversion kits and how much of a pain in the butt is it to do? Thanks.
Your much better off buying the truck you want and selling the old one.
However it is possible with lots of time and effort. You would require a donor truck to make the switch. You have many other items to consider than just the actual running gear.
Thanks, ATC. I have been waiting for this conversion for a long time. I am getting tierd of changing CV Shafts. I had been thinking of buying a 1 ton frame and suspension and putting my truck body on it. This solid axle conversion will save me some money and time.
Thanks for the tips. I am going to look into it. One thing for sure is that I am not going to get another truck. If I can't convert, then I will just stay with the 2-wheel drive.

If you are interested, I am looking to convert my truck to a straight axle and would be willing to sell my whole front end suspension with the 5 inch superlift lift in it. l would also include the transfer case and front drive shaft. I am converting my truck to a 302 also so I dont need the motor, trans(Manual), transfer case, front suspension and axle. Let me know if you are interested or if anybody else is. The gearing is 4.56 by the way.
