weird sound

It's 4 degrees here and my 04 screw made a sound like you had a long stem
china glass with a little water in it and your running your finger around the
top hope you all know the sound did it in short spurts what could this be? this
was inside the cab could it be the heater motor

When the temp drops below freezing, everything seems to click and dink all the time. You take it to Ford, "its a truck, it is suppose to make noises" and get this sort of response.

I have the same issue with my 2005 with the 4.2 V8. Doesn't make any noise until it is about 10 below 0. Then it is very distracting. Anyone have any success getting rid of that whine?

there has been discussions that it actually maybe an alternator problem believe it or not. Some guys had the whine or chime, whatever, the dealer changed the alternator, sound gone.
