dealer service question

ok, i heard around only take the truck to the dealer for service as can't trust the quick change places because of cheap filters and over/under fill of oil. also heard not take it to the dealer for anything unless its major repair do to the fact they like to "tinker" with it and your truck may come out worst than it is.

can someone clarify what is best to do? i live at an apartment complex so i can't do maintenece myself or i would.

My dealer only charges $59 for an oil change. They do it in about an hour. Thats hard to beat doing it yourself or via the quick change places.

Haven't had to do anything else yet. But I imagine I would have them do any powertrain and warranty work. Cosmetic, intake and exhaust I'll probably do.

BTW, just bought some land outside Dandridge. Where are you at?

Where do you live? All the dealers around here are just short of a C note for a 6.0 oil change.

I get them at the dealership here in austin for the same ($59). That is also after tax and disposal fee. There is only one dealership that does it this cheap. check around, I have seen these types of deals in many major cities in the sout and sothwest. good luck

I'm in north Texas and I get mine done for $58.50 at the dealership. But I checked another dealer nearby and they wanted $90. From checking around for some other prices (like a transmission fluid/filter change) I have found huge differences in prices.

SHOP AROUND.

bf250, I'm fulltiming and rely on by truck (2003 6.0L Lariat, Fx4) with 62k miles on it, I can't do my own changes, so I rely on Ford dealers to perform oil/filter changes for peace of mind. I think that is really what it boils down to, "having peace of mind" when the oil/filter changes are done.
