Hey all,
I don't have a horn or emergency flashers on my truck (thanks to the previous owner) so I am looking to install a very simple horn, and switch driven emergency flasher setup. I need this until I replace the steering wheel with a factory wheel. The deal for the horn is this:
1. The horn is still in place
2. I have a cheapo push button switch
3. some wire(if needed)
Question: how do I wire this up to make the horn work? I understand very simple wiring diagrams, so go for it. All help is appreciated.
The setup for the flashers is this:
1. everything is there except the factory steering wheel with the pull switch
Can I bypass the factory pull switch and use an off/on toggle? If so, how do I do it?
The horn is relatively easy, just needs to ground the horn relay. For the four way, it gets a little more interesting. You need to ba able to hook all four corners of the truck to the flasher. Years ago most parts stores and mail order places like J.C.Whitney carried a four way flasher add on. 1966 Mustangs had a toggle switch in the glove box. The switch needs to have 4 poles and only be off-on type. You connect one side of each pole (the same side of each) together and feed it through a heavy duty flasher designed for hazard warning. Take each of the other poles (leads) from the switch and connect them to the wires from your turn signal switch. When you turn the switch on, all 4 turn signals will flash. Good luck with it. If you need more information, PM me and I will see if I can at least give you the colocrs of the wires.
