Just got my truck back from having the turbo replaced. I had a code P0299 (low boost) and also witnessed too high boost (35 psi !!!).
So, along with that several recalls were done including EBP and connector being replaced, and several others with just numbers and no descriptions.
Anyway, we will see how long this one lasts since it is the same kind as the original (revised 05 level does not fit 04 pedestal).
The new flash makes the truck drive more smoothly but it appears boost is down a bit, especially given the cold air here in Detroit.
Anyway, I have a Snow Performance Boost Cooler to add on so we will see what that does to my EGTs.
BTW, I had the opportunity (don't ask how) to see the new 6.7L Cummins I6 for the 07 Dodge. WOW. Initially limited to 375 HP and 700 lb-ft, it will make 400 HP/800 lb-ft with nothing more than calibration changes. WOW again. That is not much less than I make on a SCT flash....
So I now found somethingI don't like about the new flash for my truck (the one which goes with the new EBP and EBP connector recall)...
The truck "warm" restarts (warmed up but sat for 20 minutes in cold 10F ambients) very roughly and puts out white/blue unburned fuel exhaust for about 5 seconds and then takes a bit to clear its throat before it drives away fine. It never did that before and it pisses me off. After an extended warm engine cold soak (a couple hours) it cranked for 5-6 seconds and then I let off the key, hit it again and after 4-5 more seconds it finally fired up roughly. That *really* pisses me off.
Anyone else have the same issue after the EBP/reflash thing?
After the headgaskets were replaced on my truck, the dealer put in 15w40 which is still in there. I have noticed over the last couple of days were even after the truck has run for 10 minutes or so, when I head down the road it sounds as though it is misfiring. (temps in the 20's) I assume this is due to the 15w40 because I never had this trouble last winter with the Mobil Syn 5w40. I imagine things will go back to normal after I switch back to Rotella Syn 5w40 tomorrow.
I'm running 10w30 Dino, started at -32 Celsius, in Edmonton. It was rough, with a puff of black soot on the car beside. It took all of 20 seconds and it was idling up to 1250 rpm and running like any other morning. It sat for 4 days before i started it, no block heater. SUPERDUTY. I thought I would have to tow to a spot to get it plugged in before it would start.
