Another Van turbo ??????

what is the part number for the e series turbo? Looking to get one and get some machine work done and get it bolted up when I bring down the truck this summer for glow plugs, turbo, and new fuel system.

Do a search. I'm sure youll find it. It's something I've been thinking about also. But I've found the more I read the more my mind changes.

These folks carry the Van turbo exhaust housing:
http://www.shopdiesel.com/index.cfm/...ct_id/1299.htm
and
www.blackclouddiesel.com can get the ATS housing. Together with the stock
compressor wheel you'll have an instant van turbo. About $875 or so.

Don't forget the Van Turbo DP adapter from DI ($99) unless you are fabbing up your own.

Going to have it machined to fit the downpipe I have instead of buying the adapter. Thanks for the link Nut. I have the ATS housing on and a WW in hand. All I need is the exhaust housing. Are there any other new parts I will need to get this setup. Other than exhaust housing and ATS housing and my stock turbo parts?

Don't believe so but i would check with Shop Diesel to make sure. jtharvey is going with this exact setup and will have it installed soon. I think it's the best bang for yer buck setup using the stock setup. Your gonna have awesome flow
and low egt's. The stock commpressor wheel flows more air than the WW.

Yes sir, I am indeed!! The rest of my turbo goodies came in this evening. I've got the ATS housing, 1.15 non-wastegated housing from DS (made by Garrett), and rather than gutting my EBPV or getting rid of it alltogether, I got an EBPV that will work with the housing. I use the EBPV as an exhaust brake when towing, so it was important for me to keep it. Shop Diesel actually hooked me up with a conversion EBPV for the 1.15 housing that is designed for the truck. It bolts right up to the housing and the downpipe. No machining or custom fab work necessary. I also got a turbo o-ring and bolt kit from KCM Diesel. It has all the o-rings for the turbo and pedistal, as well as new turbo hold down bolts. I'm also sticking with the stock compressor wheel. After speaking with Jody Tipton (DP Tuner), he suggested I not go with a WW. The WW is designed to cure the turbo surge, but the ATS housing alone should do that, and Nut is right that the stock wheel flows more air. My total cost for everything was $870.

So, I essentially have a van turbo with an ATS compressor shroud, and I get to keep my exhaut brake with no custom fab work, for essentially the same price as just a van turbo and no ATS housing. It looks like I should be able to begin work on the turbo stuff sometime this week. It's going to take a few days, as my time to work on it is limited.
Oh, and I'll have some pics in my gallery later tonight of the housings and EBPV.

Post some pics of the ebpv. I want to compare it to the DI adapter as far as restriction.

Here they are. It's obviously more restrictive than nothing at all, but I don't know that it's any more restrictive than the stock one. Let me know if you'd like some different pics, like more straight through it. Also, the rest of the pics of the turbo stuff is in my gallery here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...&albumid=20693

Ok, so you didn't ask, but here's a couple of pics that better show the restriction. They are pretty much straigh thru shots.

That looks like a stock van ebpv. Are you sure it will fit your down pipe?

That's kind of what I thought. And, no, I'm not positive it will fit my down pipe. I was very specific when asking for the part, and my invoice states that it is a "Conversion EPB Valve for 1.15 Non Wastegated Turbo" that fits the "99.5-2003 Ford Powerstroke F-Series" but that doesn't meat it will fit, so now I don't know what to make of it.

Does Garrett make one, or not? Does somebody else make one? Did I just get sent the wrong part? I'm starting to think that I might end up having the one I bought, just modified.

Across the flange should be 4.5 inches outside to outside.

Thank you for that bit of information. It has helped me determine, that what I have won't work!! What I got shipped to me is only 3.5" across the outside edges of the flange. Looks like I'll be making a phone call on Monday, and my turbo upgrades are on hold for a little while longer.

What did the ebpv cost you? I might let mine go.
