Throttle Position sensor ...Choice???

I went to the parts store to replace my TPS but when I got there they couldn't tell me if I had to get the one that matched the OEM part number (the most expensive). They list four different TPS's. Does it matter which one I buy? They are all made be "Wells" The wells Part number TPS236 matches the part number on my TPS. At least there print out says it matchs. But the computer also lists TPS259, TPS239, and TPS215.

My TPS pn is F3DF 9B989 BA

What should I get???

Thanks
Doug

Good question. rockauto.com lists many too. They have the Motorcraft part for $46.79. I'd stick with it if you can.

The Wells part did work well for me, but if there are multiple options, this can get confuseing. Wish I could help you more. Sticking with an OEM part might be the way to go on this one. The guys at RockAuto seem to be good at makeing OEM available to you at a discount.

I can't wait for the shipping so I have to find it locally. What happens if the TPS completely dies?

I use sensors made by Motorcraft, Bosh, Delfy and of Volga. I belive, Bosh sensors are the best, but not all these sensors fit aero. For example TPS made by bosh has no variable resistor inside. There is a rotatin bagnet inside, and special chip! But its price is over $60 and I had to make an adapter! Principally it is possible to use ECT, IAT and Hall sensor made by other companies, but O2 sensor, MAP, IAC mast be made by Motorcraft only!
