I have an 88 f250 with a 351 and automatic trans. The problem is when the truck is doing 60MPH the rpm's are at 3000 when I let of the gas the rpm"s fall and the trucks speed falls it feels like the brakes are being installed The transmission code on the door is "K" also does any one know what rpm's and speed that the trans mission should shift at . Going 60mph and the motor doing 3000rpm the motor makes a sound like it is working to hard . Any help would be great
I have a 88 F-150 351W with the C6, 3.73 gears. That RPM is right about where I am at that speed. Maybe SLIGHTLY higher. It all depends on your gears and tire size, but I don't think that figure is out of range.
What gears and tire diameter are you running?
Sorry, I don't know the tranny ID codes...I guess I could go look at mine, but I'm too lazy right now. My guess is if it's an 88 with the automatic its probably the C6. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
