New to this site. I currently own an '01 F350 Crew Cab Dually 4x4. I just found out yesterday I need to replace the ball joints. Has anyone posted a "how to" on this or could point me to somewhere that has? I was looking through the archives and couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
Do a search on here, and do a general search online thats how I did it and I found info. I just replaced mine 3weeks ago, not a terrible job with the right tools! Ah tools are nice!-2000 f350
I used Moog ball joints. The uppers are greasable, however you have to remove grease fitting and replace with plug or the universal joint will hit the fittings. Good luck.
THANKS for the link hink10! I used the directions I found there (including making the seal driver) and completed the job in about 5 hrs (minus the time to have the old ball joints pressed out and the new ones pressed in at a local machine shop)!

glad that helped. I would have not done it myself if I hadn't found those instructions. Good to save some cash and have the satisfaction of doing it yourself! Visit here often, there's a wealth of information and a lot of good people that will go out of their way to help.
Thanks again! The only think I would add to those directions is to be carefull not to pinch the back of the "large knuckle seal" on the axle when hammering it on. Luckily I noticed it was pinching before I got to far on. Oh, and the expression on the Ford parts guy face when I provided him with "Ford Part Numbers" was priceless. I asked him if they were a big secret and he told me "actually... they are". I don't know why, it made his life a lot easier.
