1988 Ranger

I posted something similar earlier but I really need to find this out. My CEL doesn't come on at all. I'm having problems with my truck and would like to find out the codes using the CEL. Even when I turn the key to on it doesn't come on. I pulled off the instrument panel and the bulb is good.

The next question is where is my power distribution box under the hood (if I even have one). I have searched everywhere for it. I want to check some of my relays in there. Any help would be appreciated.

Billy

check the tech info sticky for code pulling.

look for a black box, mine is right behind the battery on the passenger side. should be on one side of the engine bay next to the fender.

I have an 87 Ranger and my light doesn't work either. I've heard it's a semi-common problem. I think they aren't wired right or something. Do try the testing method in the tech sticky to see if the light will flash, I'm curious to know if the light ever comes on.

Also, I believe your 88 doesn't have a power distribution box, but rather relays and fusible links. Most of your relays should be near the air box.
