when i ordered my 2006 F-250 CC PSD. I don't have any need for it, but for 40 bucks I figured i might as well have the bigger one. A fellow told me today that if you don't have an extra load on the battery, that the HD alternator will over charge the two batteries and i'll be replacing batteries all the time... does this sound right?

Doesn't sound logical to me - after all, thats why the charging system has a "regulator" .......
The regulator on the alternator will keep it from overcharging, that's it's job.
Sounds like urban legend. Like someone who knew someone who know someone who had a high-draw setup on his truck and had the HD alternator. And kept frying batteries (or killing them because the alternator was faulty). But it was the HD alternator's fault, RIGHT?
It's already been said enough, but it'll be just fine.
If you get the PTO option: make sure you turn it off first before you turn off the truck, or else all the power will be taken off when you try to restart and you will be stuck with a dead truck.
