I was just on another web site reading about the 6.0L PSD. A guy complained that he had a loss of power in his 05 after a reflash. Wanted to know if this was true and going to happen with my 06? Nothing against the person who said it, but I would like some confirmation on this.
If you went in for the reflashing of the computer, the engine was electronically detuned. The horsepower and torque have been reduced. This is being done to all 6.0 PSD's that are going in for service. This is in response to the issues of blowing head gaskets and turbos on the motors. It will be done even if you do not get the recall notice.
yup sad cure for a few??? engineering problems... both our duelly 350`s are now gutless wonders after mondays (this week) service at the local dealer At least with this re-flash they raised the boost restriction from 20 lbs to 26, makes one heck of a difference, but... still the other stuff that the re-flash has doen, makes these 2 work horses kinda like driving an old buick
it should, at the very least is should show the recall number.
I have not noticed any power loss and have had the flash for 2 weeks. I have heard of others that have noticed power loss but that if they drive a little more aggressivly it's not noticable.
By the way, I drive mine like I stole it.
If your talking about the 0535B or whatever, I had it done about 3 weeks ago and I'm 99% sure I lost some snap. I used to hit the gas and I remember my head snapping back, not so much anymore. By no means is it a dog, but it definitely doesn't have the extra pop it had before. I debated calling back Ford to see if I could get the old flash back but I figured they wouldn't anyways. I was originally just hoping it was my imagination but I don't think it is. Then I was hoping my tranny might just have to relearn the shifting, but still nothing. I havent' noticed any difference in the boost guage reading, but it feels like LESS boost. Weird, anyways, thats my experience.
Also, my truck is BONE STOCK, never a tuner or ANYTHING.
Had the ...35 done on mine and to be honest the truck runs better. '05. The idel is smoother, the off the line response is actually a little cleaner, had a slight stumble prior to reflash. Overall throttle response is just better. As for overall power, nothing noticeable, have open exhaust, egr d/c, open airbox. Still waiting to get through a few tanks of fuel to check fuel econ. So for this 2005 cc sb fx4 everything is fine.

I took my '06 in for some warranty work on my window seals and asked if there were any recalls or flashes to be done on it while I had the truck there and they said no so it's possible your truck already has had the things done to it before you purchased it.Mine has great power and runs good all stock.
I lost power after a reflash last year when I went in for a coolant leak, The new flash did not reduce it any further but it also did not give it back.

Do the words bovine excrement mean anything to you? Urban legend? There are mixed reports on this reflash with some owners saying their trucks are "neutered" and others reporting slight mileage gains. There are a number of threads on the forum regarding this subject. Read them and draw your own conclusions. It is my experience that the truck must be driven through several driving cycles of city and highway driving of up to 500 miles before any true conclusions can be made. My truck has returned to pre-reflash performance levels, the only change is a boost limit when the engine is cold. This was alluded to in the letter that was sent to owners telling them about the reflash.
