I mean, for goodness sakes there is an ambulance at every high school football game I've ever been to. I'm not saying that the guy would have lived, because frankly, contrary to what the news reports (as far as the guy dying at the hospital)---he was dead when he hit the ground. I never say him move after the impact. 20----yes, 20 minutes of hillbillies standing around the guy trying to decide who will put their beer down and do something, the first EMT showed up and they tried their best---then they began to park equipment between the crowd and the accident---which can only mean one thing. Anyways, I'll end my soap box----but Starbird----I hope you pay a pretty penny for being such a tight-wad and not having an ambulance contracted for the event. I'm done for now---
I'm really considering emailing KOTV----it might not make a difference, but I am a firm believer that it's neccessary for citizens to hold event managers responsible. What do you guys think?
BTW: Bear in mind, I don't blame any of this on the EMTs.... not at all.

It seems that Starbird is more interested in money than safety. He had no ambulance or emergency kill boxes (which are always required at sanctioned events)
My buddy told me that they had kids watching the emergency exits instead of paid security.
On top of that, because of the weather, they allowed the car owners to leave their cars in the expo building last night, but required them out by noon today AND there would be NO SECURITY on site last night.
My friend decided that this will probably be the last time he ever puts one of his cars in this show.
I wasn't at the show so I'll withhold comment on most of this for now. I will comment on the kids watching the exits. Those are probably Police Explorers. No they're not real cops or security guards, but they're better than the average adult off the street. If you go to airshows you will find that the aircraft are typically guarded, parked, etc. by kids.
Wow, no ambulance or FD vehicles and personnel on site? Is that right? I would be very surprised. I can't remember if I noticed that last year or not. My condolences go out to that man and his family. It sounds like a sad tragic accident. We don't have all the facts on the case and I wasn't there so can't form an opinion on "woulda, coulda, shoulda's". All I can think of is the guy that died was a racer and spent the last 15yrs or so racing in arenas accross the country. He died at an event where he got to do what he loves, race trucks. All auto racing has inherent danger aspects. With that being said, I gotta wonder how it could have been prevented or turned out better. The thing I wonder about is if there were trucks racing on the dirt track were these guys standing around not watching the current races? If they were inside the arena were they supposed to be watching the racers, just in case? (I think I would.) If they were watching the dirt racers would they have had time to duck behind/beside one of those monster truck tires to escape the runaway truck? How far away from the dirt arena were these guys standing? Did that out of control truck have an emergency kill switch? Did the driver try to kill the ignition? Were there any EMTs, FD personnel, doctors, nurses or anybody medically trained just attended that rushed to their aid? Did you get that on video, Stan?
I'm sorry to say, I reconized the Camaro before I even saw the Shelby.
Did see those Police Explorers gaurding the exits. Reminded me of the CAP walking the flight line at airshows. At least it gives the kids some sence of responseability.
I though the monster trucks had kill switches. Several times I saw the drivers hold their hands up, and their trucks got shut off. I also can't believe their was no medical people there. There is an ambulace at almost every sports event. At the 5:00 show one of the arena truck drivers had a Tahoe or something similar. It almost got rolled and seemed close to going into the stands at the end of turn 1
Tim, Since your so good at polishing your more that welcome to come over and do the T-Bird Might even head over to Legnds or Andolini's after.
Well, heck, I'll take a piece of that action too. Hey Tim, How much buffing would it take make my '78 paint shine, hail damage to dissappear, and the crumpled cheapy tailgate to get replaced? lol. j/k.
