I'm planning to purchase a programmer by weeks end. I've been undecided for a few weeks between the edge evolution and the diablo predator, But think I will be buying the edge evolution. They seem pretty close in comparison, And both alow downloading of engine fault codes. The cost of each unit varies only by a couple of bucks. Does anyone have any input?
I bought the Diablo Predator with the lastest update. I am running the 60 hp tune on my 2004 F350 CC FX4. I have had no problems and my truck runs great. My mileage has increased by 1 mpg, but remember I have only had the tune installed for about 2 weeks. I still like a kid with a new toy... got to play, play, play...... One of these days I may grow up and be a really old man....
I'm running the Diablo Predator. I bought it used and was able to hook it up to my computer and download the latest software - a free service from Diablo. I haven't had any problems with it. I've only run it on the 60 hp tune - waiting until I install my intake/exhaust/gauges before I increase it. I've noticed better gas mileage with the 60 hp tune. I don't have any experience with the Edge system.
What motor? What year? I had the Diablo on mine for about a month. Loved the tool and the power, hated what it did to my tranny. Exchanged it for the Edge EVO and i'm happy. o1' 7.3L
Same as you - a 2001 7.3 PSD. What am I settin' myself up for??? I've had the predator for about 1 month.
Have you noticed the T/C lockup dropping out whenever you touch the brakes? Or sometimes when going down a long grade it will just release? The Trans parameters are based on an early 2000.
Hope that's not the case for you. But the stock setting is not the same stock setting your truck came with and was revised by Ford in 2000, and older trucks were upgraded by dealers.
Yea - I've notice the T/C dropout you're talking about. A got the Predator used for a couple hundred bucks, but I'd really like a chip so I can select the setting I want when I want it and not have to stop the truck and reprogram. I think I've talked myself into getting a chip.
Yeah, I agree the guys with Jodi's custom tunes for the same cash seem to be a little happier in general with the increased flexibility of a flip switch. Sitting at a light next to a revving little ricer it would be sweet to flip the switch, spool it up and wait for the red, yellow, yellow, yellow,GREEN!
I would suggest the Predator for the programmer choice, if you decide to get a chip the TS performance is the best out there. It has 6 positions, 4 for power levels and the others for Valet, theft, and high idle etc. Call us if you have any questions etc.
Hey Fords for me, The trans is programmed from the factory to release like that. I have an override switch on mine and the EBPV exhaust brake mod. This is slick and cheap. I have also had both progrmmers and I sold them on ebay. What I replaced them with is a TS flip chip. Theres a guy on ebay, his name there is "scotng". He sells overun 6 position chips for $260.00 shipped. This is the stuff. I fine tuned my injection preasure and run the flip chip in the 50hp setting. This makes about the same as my Predator on 100hp. Talk about scary, the 140hp setting is awesome. My Excursion wipes it feet into second gear at the 140hp. This is an 8000# truck. I think I posted this two weeks ago. The other day when I was leaving feedback for him, He had 5 more listed for sale. For this price and performance I wish I had never wasted the time and money on programmers.
Hey Ford's, Mine is an 01 as well. I wired up the T/C lock with a always on and a brake deactivation micro switch for in town driving. I'm a control freak!!! Ask my wife. You know what I just realized? We turned a corner on this forum from programmers to trans. Oh well.
If your a control freak like me, this is the stuff!!! I found by accident a system simular to mine but when you were running the exhaust brake and needed help, the exhaust brake would shut off when you hit the brakes. Whats that all about. Any way they sell there kit for $500.00. My wife almost wet herself. She says, you spend all that time in the shop and don't make any money at it!!! I guess I just love the sport.
