What do i need
well i have a 77 f250 4x2 and it rides good in the dirt and the washes but i occasionaly get stuck and well there are some hills that my buddy goes over that i can't and well i need to know what all i need to conver to 4x4 i have 460/c6

do a search of the topic 4x4 conversion. You will find several threads. The frames of the 4x2 and 4x4 trucks are different. This creates many problems. Most on this board agree - get a 4x4 frame/ running gear and swap the good stuff to it.

Two completely different set of frames, one is setup for I-beam suspension while the other is set up for solid front axle. Oil pump sump on two wheel drive is in front and 4 wheel drive is in the rear of engine. The crossmember on a 4x4 are different than a 2x4. Raduis arm mounts are different also. That's why it better using a 4x4 frame. To many modification to convert from 4x2 to 4x4. There are more differences between both.

you could get a limited slip or a locker, that would make a big difference if you dont already have one.
