4X4 not working
Slowly, I'm getting my recently bought 93 Explorer back to the shape it is meant to be in. Still having a problem getting it into 4X4. Not sure if the shift motor is bad or not. I have replaced the panel switch and the AWD module with no success.
I can hear the relay's click when I press the panel switches, but red lights on panel don't light and I can't hear the shift motor engaging.
Is there an easy way to test the shift motor? Any precautions, before I get started?

There is a thread floating around somewhere about how to fix and clean the shift motor. I recently bought a 93 as well and hopefully I will get mine pulled off this weekend to fix it. If I can find the link I will post it.

Ok apparently the purpose of this site is not to help people out, so I'm not really sure what this site is for then. I tried to post you a link on how to fix the shift motor, they removed it. So I tried to send you the link in a private message well thats not allowed either. Go to a site called ask jeeves and just do a search for ford explorer shift motor and I hope you find it.
