my 90 pontiac bonneville finally bite the dust (216k mi)...i called a junk yard and they want to give me $50 bucks for it ...its pretty much got a full tank of gas that i am going to siphon out, brand new tires (~5k mi, bfg, 215/65/r15?), is there anything else i should strip off?...should i donate, sell as parts car, burn, call another junkyard, keep it for those 'push, pull, tow trade in offers'...i dont know what to do
i forgot to mention that the stp oil filter almost certainly collapased internally and consequently engine blew...is this something i should try and pursue with stp or is that a dead end

Reason: remove parts offer
You could make far more than 50 bucks if you were to part it out in your barn. After you get bored parting it out, call the junkyard and tell them to come get it.
id say pursue stp on the bum fillter, but dont count on anything. what shapes the car in? like polarbear said 3800s are cheap and everywhere. maybe find ya a one of the factory supercharged ones.
if you feel the need to strip it take everything, pull doors, hood, seats, anything thats in decent shape and can be resold.
we've striped two old trucks before, aslong as you end up with a metal pile that resembles a car, and a title they'll take it.
you might be able to sell it on ebay.people are always looking for cheap cars to fix up and those bonnies were popular so I would think you could sell it as is.
Junkyards are like pawnshops, they buy cheap and sell high, best bet would be sell the whole thing on Ebay or part it out and sell it on ebay. People are always looking for spare parts they might need ebays always a good choice
Hey i didnt think of that one, thats a good idea too, ive shot at old tractors and stuff but never cars...i bet its fun, especially if you put som manican in the seat and then you can pretend your a cop lol
actually we did do that stuff, we sort of set up this training thing with the car, all done very safely of course and we used paintball guns when we were both(and some others) were going to all shoot and might be in the line of fire, we got books and stuff, it was a really fun experinece and cheap!(except ammo) and after that car was stolen we bought another one the next year and did it again.
Read that and maybe you can see if you've got a chance in court.
If you are the poster who has had TWO filters crash, I wasn't betting on the filters being the cause, but the effect of engine neglect as well.
The malfunction of by-pass valves and regulating valves has been traced to:
• Sticky surfaces caused by cold, highly viscous oil;
• Oil contaminated by excessive condensation, coolant, or oxidation;
• Neglect – extended oil drain and filter change intervals;
• Carbon grit that temporarily jams a valve;
• Sudden acceleration of the engine with any of the above conditions.
Discovery of a collapsed filter calls for inspection of the filter by-pass valve and the pressure regulatorvalve and a review of the engine and its performance and maintenance history.
It's like when I saw a post in one of my Camaro forums about an engine (a 3.8L mind you) blowing after the guy ran it low on coolant for a few months....another guy chimed in thinking the Fram filter caused the mess, but the filter did not produce the sludge by itself (filter makes no sludge, really) that ruined that engine!
In this case, I'm not thinking you looked after this car like it was all you had to get you to work and back...no big deal, but don't blame the filter for that.
It's always cheaper to repair than have payments. If you don't keep it around, part it out. Some crazy ford truck man might just give you $50 for the front seats.
You can do better than fifty bucks. At least sell the rims and tires, then see what parts you can get rid of. To get the most money, you'd have to do the most work taking it apart and advertizing it. If it was me, I'd spend a couple weeks on it and then send it to the junkyard for $50. Around here you can get any old hunk of a car hauled away for cash no matter what you've taken off of it. Try the yellow pages.
if that's a supercharged model, you'll prolly pull some money for the charger on ebay alone... the chargers go frequently these days cause of thier age... yours has alot of miles on it, but if it works, it works and that makes it worth something. You might be able to sell the rest of it on ebay too for parts, or sell the thing whole in one piece to someone. It's worth more than $50 in scrap metal right now too btw and cause you have the title you wouldn't even have to cut it up at some places.
