I'm trying to find out the maximum towing capacity for my '95 F150. It has the 5 liter V8, 4x4, manual transmision. I lost the owner's manual so there is no help there. Is it printed somewhere on the truck?
However, I would not approach that number if you are in a hilly area, doing very long drives, or towing horses or livestock or other cargo with a high center of gravity or a shifty nature. In that case I would limit to 75% of the sticker limit.
Rats, you're right. I'd check my owners manual (I have a 95 4x4 w/ auto), but it's at the shop today for balljoints. IIRC, the limit for the manual tranny is around 5500-6000lb. Definitely find out what that limit is before towing anything near that limit. If you still can't find it send me a PM and I'll look it up when I get my truck back later this week.
Tow ratings are very low for the M5OD-equipped trucks, around 3000lb give-or-take depending on your actual GCWR and assuming you have 3.55 gears. If you happen to be one of the few with 4.10s the rating goes up to about 5000 or so.
If you are in a hilly area and are amking some good hauls please install a tranny temp gauge and dont be doing soem insane stuff. but if its hilly then no more then 3K or you will be looking for a new tranny.
I was just going to post a forum about how much i can pull. I have an 88 F150 with a 5.0L and a manual 5 speed. I wanted to buy a gooseneck trailer so i can haul hay. I would be pulling about 11000lbs. Is this a good idea?
I should have included the clutch in my last post...I knew a company that had a Mitsubishi pickup (this was in 1988) and a semi. The semi died on the road and they used the Mitsubishi to tug it onto the shoulder. Dumb, really, because it took out the clutch.
Got to keep in mind too, that an F150 won't be properly sprung for towing a lot. Brakes, Brakes and more trailer brakes.

I hope you're trolling.
The answer is no. Even though a gooseneck puts the weight in a better place than a bumper, the truck won't accelerate or stop.
