Loose Steering

I just bought an F250, 1975, automatic. The owner told me he replaced the steering column recently. I noticed that while driving it, there is a lot of play in the steering wheel. Like turning the steering wheel an inch or 2 has no effect, although when changing lanes going around 40 MPH, it feels like I'm going to loose control of the vehicle. My brother showed me a scew on the column he said may not have been put in properly when they replace the steering column. Is this a matter of tightning the screw? We know that the front schocks are bad also.

Loose Steering

[font color=red size=2]It could be several things. Have someone rock the steering wheel back and forth while you look over each piece of the steering. Pay paticular attention to the rubber coupler that is between the column and the steering box, and look over each of the joints in the front end, if there is any play in any of the joints or the rubber coupler, they need replaced.
