So at 400 tons a trip, and 2 tons/barrel thats 200 barrels /trip from the mine to the processing plant. at $65/barrel the truck is earning $13,000 per trip. Probably six tires on the truck. Not sure how long a round trip takes, but it's got to be several per hour. I bet the truck has no problem paying for itself.

They don't make anywhere near $65/bbl profit. However, yes, the trucks do pay for themselves.

Fun Fact II: Caterpillar has onsite full time technicians just to work on these trucks.

OOOPS! Suprise suprise! a Tax subsidy is wanted

A tax credit of $3 per barrel is being discussed in Congress for this stuff. Who said in another thread they didn't want to see tax money used in alternative energy development? I wonder how it plays here?

Lets see, they say it costs $10/bbl to extract this stuff, less $3/bbl tax credit, sell it to the open market for $60. That ought to be considered profitable.

Hurry up Ethanol and Bio diesel.

Million ton truck? It would be the size of an oil supertanker. How about a 1,000 ton truck? That's still a big one.
