Power lock problems

Power lock problems
2002 F350 7.3
My power locks stopped working. the dealer tells me that I need a new security module and a reprogram to the tune of $600. Also the door ajar light is always on, dome light does not come on when door is opened and radio does not turn off when key is turned off and door is opened. Dealer says that these might be related but can't tell until the first problem is fixed. All symtoms started at the same time. Has anyone else had these issues?

My dad had the same problem with his 02 F250, PSD. They ended up changing the Security module and that cleared up all the problems. The Module doesn't cost but $125.00. The cost is in the Labor. They have to pull out the Radio and the Module is on the firewall behind it. If it has gone completely out, which yours sounds like it has. They will have to down load a new code if you have buttons on your door. If it isn't completely gone they may be able to salvage some of the memory to transfer into the new one. $600.00 sounds alittle high, you might get a price from another dealer. I think my dads bill was somewhere around $300.00. Good Luck, Greg
