Help Fuel Pressure Problems?

Checked my fuel pressure today with the key in the on position and got a reading of 12psi. I did not hear the pump cycle on and can't remember the last time I did.

When I started the truck the pressure slowly rose to 30psi. A stab on the throttle with the truck in park lowered the gauge to 28psi where it stayed. After turning it off the pressure dropped 10psi in 5 or so minutes.

On Saturday I had the truck dynoed and to my surprise there was only a 12hp difference from 3200-5500rpm, highly unusual. Under half throttle and below the trucks acceleration is flat and ho hum no matter what the rpm spools to, it never used to be this way.

Also idle is extremely week hovering between 400-600rpm.

I think it is the fuel pump but the dealer said the pumps don't slowly degrade they just go all at once, don't know if this is true but, I have heard others have had faulty pumps
that still worked even though at greatly reduced performance.

I drive 35mi each way to work and would hate to be stuck on the side of the highway some night or morning or worse in the middle of an intersection.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

might be your FPR valve, disconnect the vacuum hose off the valve and retake the pressure readings, with no vacuum on the valve the seat should stay closed and the full pump pressure should read, if still low, it is either a plugged fuel filter or the pump
