working on a 88 7.3 pulled valve cover off and noticed that 2 rockerarms where not getting any oil.runs fine accept for squeal noise.i checked push rods ok.any help would be appreciated.thanks
So the push rods had clear/clean holes.......which ones are the problem rockers. Were the rockers moving up and down like all the rest. How much wear is on the rocker post/rocker.......
the front 2 on the pass side.the rocckerarms were new .the guy just had them replaced a month ago as one was broke.all the rest of them are getting oil accept the two front ones.could the lifter be bad?
What color is the top of the pushrod........copper should be up. My only guess would be something is plugging of the oil flow in the lifters. If you can try and see the top of them see if there is a buildup of anything on/in the center hole the oil comes out.The old push rods may have melted and covered over the hole????
If you cam get one of those long flexible skinny lights and feed it in one hole and inspect the other lifter for damage. if there was no oil getting to the lifters then I think they would have siezed. A magnet may be able to raise and lower the lifter in it's bore, they will not come out as the retainer holds it in.
Was the lift of the rockers and push down on the valves the same as the other valves. If the cam was toast or lifter roller flatened then there may not be enough lift to push oil up the P rod???????
