I have a '78 f-100 with the electric module on the left inner fender which is leaking a hard black goop. I was told this unit would leave you dead on the road. So,,, I took one off of another 302. When I hooked that one up it would not start at all. Next I put the old one back on and it still wont start.. did the same thing again and still no dice. At this point I took a piece of rough sand paper and clean the paint service around the mounting area, this time it worked. However the truck faid to start again and wont start to this day. Any clues?

Go to the parts store and get a brand new one. Make sure the mounting surface is clean and the wires are not burnt. If still no luck get a wiring schematic and a ohm meter and start shooting wires.

The duraspark box, and it doesnt need to be grounded but i would definatley say that you probably broke a wire in one of the 2 pigtails that goes to it when you disconnected it, darn wires are brittle on these old sleds
