tranny transfer

i am not too sure if this is possible at all, which is why im coming here in the first place. i have a 1976 f-100 ranger, with a 460, holley 4bbl, with an automatic tranny. well, i really dont like the pedal feel of the older ford autos, and i was wondering if there was some way to put a manual tranny on it. and also how much cutting would be involved. thanks for your help guys...
peace out

I'm not sure what you mean by pedal feel. You can put stiffer return springs on the carb to change how the pedal feels, or you could put a shift kit in the tranny if you mean it shifts too softly/slowly. If you just have to have a manual (not saying thats a bad thing, I'd rather do it myself too) then you'll need the tranny, clutch assy., flywheel, pedals and linkages out of a 73-79. It's a lot of work, but everything will bolt right in.

Oh, you might want to get the steering column too, otherwise you'll still have a slide collar with a hole in it when your done (ugly).

Good luck,

BFM
