Please help me ID this motor

Hello Folks, I found a couple sets of numbers on the engine. First set is on the intake (front) 5752033. The second set is down near the starter curb side, C6ME-A.
I was told this was a 428??? Thanks for your help.

Well its a 1976 High boy, I know its not the original motor and was told it was a 428 out of a T Bird. I mentioned it on this site and was told to get these #s and folks on the site would probably be able to ID the motor.

well by those numbers we can say it is a 1966 mercury engine. thats all though. being that it's a 66, it would be either a 289, or fe series.

C= decade,60's
6= year, 6
M= Mercury
E= Engine

a fe engine would be a 360, 390, or a 428, and since it was a 76 truck, it was set up for a fe engine and alot of other mods and parts would of been needed to convert it to a different motor, so it is very possible it is a 428.

I believe that is an FE series, most likely a mercury 410 but I'm not 100% sure.

5 valve cover bolts indicate it's an FE motor. 352/360/390/410/428....C6ME is what tjc said. It's a mercury engine and certainly not the original engine in the 76. 360 was typically the stock motor. However yours ain't stock, which the carb would be an indicator of what engine it is. 428's never came with a 2 bbl, but i'm not 100 percent sure on this.

some mis info in here. the mercury 410 was not a FE. so count that out. second the casting number C6ME-A was not exclusive to merc's. so it does not mean it was installed in a merc at all. the casting number C6ME-A was used until the ealry 70's. only way to get the date is the date code under the oil filter adapter. ford factory installed the C6ME-A block in trucks and cars .

if you would that would be great. all the C6ME-A blocks i have here are

1 - 352 4.00 bore
4 - 360/390 4.05 bore

i have never come across a 428. the 428 i did have had no casting number but had a sand scratched C on the back.

I'm confused. I have a mercury 410 and the block is pretty much identical to an FE. The c6 tranny off my 360 bolted right up and I'm running a 4bl intake off a 390. I'm not arguing with you. I'm just wondering what a 410 is?

Edit: I mean what the series is considered.
