NC Emissions Laws
I'd just like to know if the NC emissions laws require your vehicle to have a muffler. I tried to cut 2 of the 4 cats on my 99 F-150, but the guy at the exhausr shop said it would not pass inspection beause of different backpressure readings on O2 sensors, and I want my exhaust a little louder so eliminating my muffler is the only option. Any help is appreciated.

he's right it won't pass. It's has to pass a visual inspection and all emissions has to be there and hooked up.I live in Burke county and they put the computer on all cars & trucks 96 and newer has to pass the sniffer test also.
