Truck 2-speed

Ford-F 615 single axle that was sometime converted to tandem. Stuck in high range. Checked power and it's doing as supposed to. Would like to know common problems, tips to taking off, etc.

is it possible that the shift motor is stuck?? i know that happened on a couple IH's my neighbor has. Not a bad job to replace.

But his shift motor went out and it was stuck in hi.

Can you just take off the bolts and pullit out? Or, is there a special procedure for removing then installing again? How would you check to see if it is stuck?

i'm not sure about just removing it......you should be able to, we were.

when you shift from the cab have someone listen for the motor to spin, as it loads a spring and when you let off the throttle and get slack in the driveling the spring pops the shift mechanism and allows it to change ranges.

Im not sure what year your truck is but in the older two speeds that Ford used there was a two way relay switch located inside and activated by the motor shaft race as it moved up and down . Normally that wears and is what goes out in them but the motor itself comes right off just remove the two nuts that fasten it to the differential housing and unhook the electrical. viola!
