my new mounts are only 2" over stock, i'll be adding cross bracing when i get them installed........i'm not a welder by any means so i have my brother-in-law who is weld everything up for me...
74 F100 351m, I'm glad you mentioned that you'll be doing all the necessary reinforcing, and that its a work in progress. Its important to mention because some folks might look at it as done and try to replicate it as is. Thats why we issued the cautionary posts. It was by no means a slam on you or your truck, and I'm glad you didn't take it that way. Take care
sorry i haven't replied lately i have been extremely busy now that what im talking about lots of info, i do have a pretty decent place to do some fabrication here at my home as for welding you said deep penetration do you mean 6010 deep because i was going to arc weld the whole setup i was going to use 6010 first pass then go over all the welds with 7018 to give it a little more strength and yes i did try to find an add a leaf to put in the front but was unable to find one.
i am going with hyperactive460's hangers i just need about two inches to level the front out and i think they will cover that. thanks for the info guys
spry the hell out of the bolts with a good lube, wd 40 or somthing similar.
then let it sit for a while. Spray the bolt and nut, let it sit some more, the hit the bolt. Don't worry, you won't brake it, you'll just brake the rust loose and then try to un bolt it.
take the pressure off the bolt(lift the bracket off of it), with a hydrolic jack if you need, and tape it out from the thread side.
Can't really see it, so I'm just guessing.
these don't, i replaced the bolts when i put the springs in about 8 years ago. i got the fron bolt out and the new drop bracket installed on te left side. just can't get the bolts to slide out of the sleeves on the upper and lower shackles......
