If I replace the standard air filter in my 90 F150 EFI with a higher performance air filter, such as the oil soaked ones, do I need to reset the memory on th EEC? I just am not sure if a different air filter is going to throw off the consistency in the air/fuel ratio that the computer has in it's memory. Is it enough of a difference in air flow that it would be a problem?
Might (or might not) make you decide to stick with the old paper filter.[/QUOTE]
Thanks for the link to that test. I think I am going to stick with the old paper style filters because the paper filters don't really block as much air flow as I thought, but they filter dirt better. Personally, I would rather take good care of my engine and keep as much dirt as possible out of it. I don't have that big of a need for increased air flow because my 300ci I6 gets most of it's power and torque at lower rpms anyway.
