Well on Feb 2nd, I swore in for the United States Army. I signed up for Motor Transport Operator (88M) in the reserves, basically driving a big cargo truck. I leave for Fort Benning, Georgia on March 1st, I go to Columbus on the 28th of this month to get shipped out. After 9 weeks of fun I go to Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri for AIT, which is only 6 weeks and 4 days. Then I come home, enroll at a close by College, and go to Dayton (about 20-30 minutes away) to the reserves base 1 weekend a month.
All in all it wasnt a bad deal, got a pretty nice signing bonus, and 60k+ for college. Only bad part is if I get deployed over there, (which they have 6 years to do so) Ill be driving a big un-armored bulls eye.
We all hope to talk to you soon then. Thank you for your heroic services.
My brother's in the army too. He does bomb disposal is in Missouri right now. He leaves for Alabama Feb.17 after he graduates.
Talk to you soon!!

Congratulations on your enlistment. Wishing you a safe and successful career.
Hate to be the one to break it to you but they really have you for the next 8 years, the last two in the inactive reserves. Only a slight chace of getting called up in the RR but still a chance.
Don't worry about that though, you'll probably like it so much you will re-enlist for 6 more like I just did......
Remember, basic training is nothing but a head game. Go in there pretending you know nothing, learn what they teach you THE WAY THEY TEACH YOU and you'll be fine.
Congratulations on making a hard decision, to do what most people regret not doing. As a defender of the Constitution, you're joining a very elite group.
Maybe not, I know a few kids in the guard, When they went to the sandbox, they had to retrain and do different things than what they do in the states on duty.
Wolf, once I learn how to use a copy machine or something and get the manual I'll be on it!

Yea I'm not worried about the last 2 years, but with my luck....
