header question

my 86 351w f150 wants headers.should i get shorty headers or full length ?also is there a mandrel bent " y" pipe i can get for this application? thanks

If you can fit them, the full length headers will flow better than the shorties. Shorties were developed to be better that the stock manifold and take less space than the full length. The trade off is that the shorties don't have quite as good a flow characteristic.

I have full-lenght headers on my 5.0L. just make sure you are carefull when driving to the exhaust shop. i had to make the trip with only straight headers. really loud. but i did get some thumbs up. lol.

what about the y pipe ,is there a catalog i can get one from.it doesnt make sense to put headers on with a old y pipe.i should go to true duel exaust but price is a factor. thanks

Full-length long tube headers promote better torque down low.
