Question Muffler question

I am thinking of either putting a flowmaster 40 or 50 series muffler on my 97 4.6 F150. My question is can I reuse the old tailpipe or would I have to get a new tailpipe. Also what is the lenght of the stock muffler. I would check myself but it is cold up here in MN.

Since the Flowmaster will be a lot shorter than the stock muffler....you would need a short piece of pipe to connect them that would fit inside/outside the Flowmaster's outlet and your stock tailpipes. AdvanceAuto/AutoZone/ect...sells the hangers, clamps, and short pieces of pipe you would need.

OR

So you dont have to use your stock tailpipe, you could just put the Flowmaster on and get a turndown and clamp that onto the back of the Flowmaster.

Thanks for the input ATC Crazy I'll give it some thought. I might decide to go to a catback from the converters back.
